Translated Articles

Sometimes women very kindly contact me and offer to translate one of my articles from English into other languages. As articles are translated, I’ll collect them here.

If you’d like to translate an article yourself, please get in touch by leaving a comment on this page.

Please leave comments about the articles themselves in the article’s own comments area. As I don’t speak any non-English languages, I’ll run non-English comments through a translator before publishing them, or check them with a friend, but I may occasionally slip up in my moderation – apologies in advance!

  1. Hi,

We just opened a blog about feminist and trans politics in French and would like to publish translations of some of your articles (namely: The Gender Ternary and Why Reclaim Sex Negative). Would that be ok with you?

We understand that those articles are old and that you might not be 100% with everything that you wrote anymore. Also, if you want to, you could also write a few lines to be put at the beginning or end of the article and that we would also translate.

    Cheers,
    Delphine

  2. Hi Delphine,

I’m always very happy to see my work translated, so yes, thank you, you’d be welcome – with one condition: that a trans woman is involved in the translation for ‘The Gender Ternary’. If you like, you can email me at radtransfem@gmail.com and we can discuss.

    – Lisa

  3. Hi, Thanks for your reply. 🙂

Sorry, I didn’t specify that but our blog (whose account I wrote you with on Twitter) is run by a friend an I and we’re both trans women. I’ll send you the link and/or the text to the translated version once it’s published.

    Thanks again,
    Delphine

  4. Hi !
I was wondering if I could translate your article “The Ethical Prude: Imagining An Authentic Sex-Negative Feminism” in French – or try at least – ? I always consider it to be a very good explanation of Sex-Negative Feminism and I would like it to be more accessible to French speaking persons.
    Thank you !
    Iris

  5. Dear Iris,

Please see above – you’re not the only one interested in this translation! Perhaps you could collaborate with Delphine?

  6. Hello,

Collaborative work on this one would be welcome. It’s long and not super easy to translate.
You can DM me on Twitter (@DelphineChristy or @questionstf which is our blog) if you want, or by e-mail: delphine AT questions.tf. 🙂

  7. Hi,
I saw that last year some girls asked you if it was possible to translate the Ethical Prude into French. However, I was looking for a translation online and couldn’t find one. I wanted to know if you have any update about this translation. If no, I’m deeply interested to do it, obviously if you’re willing to! because just as Iris said, I find your article to be a very clear explanation of what sex-neg feminism is and I know for a fact that in France lots of people are embarassed by the fact that a lot of ressources aren’t in French.
Just to introduce me, I am a cisgender lesbian studying in drama and gender studies in France doing a master degree on the theme as violence used by women in order to gain autonomy, and your article helped me a lot during my research for some concepts.
    Thank you !
You can email me if you want to discuss it

  8. I’m glad the article was helpful for you. 🙂 I don’t think that translation ever happened, or if it did, I never saw it. You would be very welcome to translate it if you like! If you would like to email me, my address is this blog name, at gmail.
